JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that many private parties have looked at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and offered to be managers.
Responding to this, a public policy observer from Trisakti University, Trubus Rahadiansyah, assessed that the private sector could not necessarily manage JIS better than the regional-owned enterprise (BUMD) DKI.
"There is no guarantee that the private sector will manage it better. Don't let this seem like giving a free house which is then rented out again for personal gain," Trubus told reporters, Wednesday, August 13.
According to him, if the private sector is interested in managing, they must bear all operational expenses and risks, including ensuring that these assets are not leased back to third parties without government supervision.
"Public funds should not be transferred to the private sector for free," he said.
Moreover, Trubus reminded that the construction of JIS is financed with public funds, namely and the National Economic Recovery (PEN) loan by the central government.
Until now, the DKI Provincial Government has not finished paying off the PEN funds paid from the APBD every year.
"If they want to be managed by the private sector, they have to pay and pay off all construction costs first. You can't just take over the existing assets," he said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung claimed that many parties had offered to become JIS managers when he led Jakarta.
According to him, the interest of outsiders to manage an international standard stage was caused by its plan to improve access and infrastructure in the area.
"Now many people have come to ask to be the manager of JIS management. That shows that with such regulations, many people want to," said Pramono in the BNI City Station area, Central Jakarta, Thursday, July 31.
Pramono explained a number of programs that he discussed and were already running at JIS. Starting from the construction of a connecting bridge between JIS and Ancol, making JIS a Persija cage, to holding other activities at the stadium built by the former Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.
"Fortunately I am one of those who continue the good things of whoever the governor is. So that way I am sure that JIS in the next year will definitely be a place, yes, a premium place for Jakarta residents," he said.
