SAMARINDA - The investigating team of the East Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati Kaltim) searched the office of PT Ketenagalistrikan East Kalimantan (Perseroda) in Samarinda, Wednesday, August 13.
This search is part of the investigation into alleged corruption in the financial management of Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) in the period 2016 to 2019.
"This search aims to find and collect evidence to shed light on the criminal acts that occurred," said Head of the Legal Information Section of the East Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office Toni Yuswanto when confirmed in Samarinda, quoted from Antara.
He explained that the search, which lasted about four hours from 15.00 WITA, was focused on collecting evidence relevant to the case.
From the location, the investigation team in the field of special crimes secured a number of documents and electronic evidence to be confiscated for the sake of investigation.
According to Toni, this case stems from the findings of the cooperation between PT Ketenagalistrikan Kaltim, a regional company owned by the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, and other parties.
Some of the cooperations are thought to be outside the company's core business as stipulated, and the implementation mechanism is allegedly not in accordance with applicable regulations.
This is considered to have the potential to cause abuse of authority which results in state or regional financial losses.
"This search is a legal step regulated in Article 32 of the Criminal Procedure Code to strengthen evidence in handling a case," said Toni.
