JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) is currently testing the distribution of social assistance (bansos) through Payment ID, one of which is in Banyuwangi, East Java, as a form of digitization to make it easier for the community.

"This is a demand, yes, indeed today we are making it more transparent, can be followed by anyone, so that it is more targeted, more efficient, so there are many benefits if we can digitize the distribution of social assistance," said Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 12.

The Minister of Social Affairs admits that there are still many challenges in the field related to digitalization because many recipients of social assistance are elderly and are not used to technology. For this reason, the Ministry of Social Affairs will continue to adjust the distribution of social assistance, one of which is with the help of social assistants.

The use of Payment ID, he continued, also continues to connect the distribution mechanism as before, both through Himbara Bank and PT Pos Indonesia for leading, lagging, and outermost regions (3T).

"We are trying to find the best way because those who can pass through PT Pos are in 3T, or in areas where there is no banking infrastructure. So we try first, we test first, we investigate first," he said.

In the future, he hopes that the distribution of social assistance using Payment ID can facilitate checks from the government, banks, and other authorities whether the assistance distributed is in accordance with its designation.

"So it is hoped that in the future, if this is indeed assistance to buy groceries, there is a barcode, it can only be used to buy groceries, right. Later, in the future, but this is still being tested, just wait. We are part of the team there, yes, there is a National Economic Council (DEN) that formed a team to digitize the distribution of social assistance from various ministries, one of which was tested from the Ministry of Social data," he explained.

Payment ID is a unique identifier of nine characters generated from population data based on Population Identification Number (NIK). This identity is designed to consolidate individual financial information, ranging from banking accounts to digital wallet accounts (e-wallet).

According to the BI study, Payment ID will also play a role in completing and strengthening the analysis of the financial sector, especially in lending, but will not replace the Financial Information Service System (SLIK) of the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Through Payment ID, every financial institution must still require active consent from customers as data owners, if they want to know the customer profile more accurately
