Welcoming the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, appealed to residents not to fly flags other than the Red and White Flag during the month of independence.
"We are the Red and White, the price is fixed. So let's respect each other together, especially now that we are in the month of independence. That is by not flying the flag other than the Red and White Flag. Instill our body and soul for the Red and White," said Khofifah in a statement in Surabaya, quoting ANTARA on Sunday, January 10.
He emphasized that the Red and White Flag as a symbol of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) must be upheld, respected, and maintained. Therefore, raising the flag in the Month of Independence should take place without interruption.
Khofifah admitted that she regularly distributes the Red and White Flag to the public during every working visit to the regions, such as in Probolinggo and Sampang Regencies.
"Of course we hope that all people will fly the Red and White Flag for a full month to strengthen our love for the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of East Java has issued Circular Letter (SE) Number 400.14.1/26008/033.3/2025, dated July 30, 2025, regarding the theme, logo, and participation of enlivening the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence.
