3 Security And 1 Member Of The Central Sulawesi Regional Police Become Suspects Of Beatings Killing Youth In Bahodopi

JAKARTA - The Central Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda) confirmed that they would process the law of a police officer suspected of being involved in a beating that killed a resident in Bahodopi District, Morowali Regency on Thursday, August 7.

"If you violate a crime, it is criminally processed. Violating the code of ethics, a code of ethics is processed. Violating discipline, disciplinary rules are processed," said Head of Propam Polda Central Sulawesi Kombes Pol. Roy Satya Putra in his statement in Palu, Sunday, August 10, confiscated by Antara.

Roy explained that the individuals involved will undergo two legal processes at once according to Perpol Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Police Professional Code of Ethics.

"If a member of the National Police violates the crime, the rules will be subject to two penalties. One is subject to a criminal offense, the other is subject to a code of ethics. We will follow up on this person according to the regulations. So it's not only a code of ethics, but also the punishment continues," he said.

Roy also asked the public not to worry about the process of handling the case.

He emphasized that everything would be carried out in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

Previously, the Morowali Police had named four suspects in the case of beating together or beatings that caused the death of a young man with the initials MR (19) in Bahodopi District, Morowali Regency on Thursday 7 August.

Four suspects each with the initials G (former members of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police served as Special Security), J (security personnel), S (security personnel), and R (security personnel).

From the results of the police investigation, the motive for the perpetrators to beat was triggered by allegations of the victim being involved in theft in the company area.

The four suspects have now been detained and charged with Article 170 Paragraph (2) 3 of the Criminal Code or Article 351 Paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code with a minimum penalty of 7 years and a maximum of 12 years in prison.
