JAKARTA - The Judicial Commission (KY) will begin holding open interviews for prospective Supreme Court justices and ad hoc human rights judges at the Supreme Court (MA) in 2025, starting this Wednesday and running through Saturday, August 9.

The interview selection was opened by Judicial Commission Chairman Amzulian Rifai at the KY Auditorium in Jakarta on Wednesday morning. Interview participants were present in person to answer questions from the panelists, while the public could watch the selection process online via the KY YouTube page.

"Today and the next four days, from August 6 to Saturday, August 9, 2025, is the final stage of the Judicial Commission's fit and proper test, namely open interviews," said Amzulian, as quoted by Antara.

These open interviews are the final stage in the selection process for prospective Supreme Court justices and ad hoc human rights judges at the Supreme Court in 2025. Previously, the KY opened registration on April 6–10, 2025, a quality selection on April 29–30, and a health and personality selection in June–July.

The interview selection process consists of 20 prospective Supreme Court justices and three prospective ad hoc human rights judges. The participants will be interviewed by a nine-person panel consisting of seven Judicial Commission (KY) members, a statesmanship expert, and a technical competency expert.

The purpose of the interviews is to gain in-depth insight into the candidates' vision, mission, commitment, integrity, legal and judicial knowledge, and mastery of substantive and formal law.

"The KY will then determine the successful candidates based on the interview results and taking into account the previous stages of the fit and proper test. In accordance with statutory provisions, the names of successful candidates will be submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR) immediately after the interviews conclude," said Amzulian.

The Chairman of the Judicial Commission (KY) hopes that the prospective Supreme Court justices and ad hoc human rights judges who have passed the selection process at the KY are the best individuals capable of facing integrity challenges and maintaining their commitment and professionalism in serving as judges.

This selection was held to fill 17 vacant Supreme Court justices: five Supreme Court justices of the Criminal Chamber, three Supreme Court justices of the Civil Chamber, two Supreme Court justices of the Religious Chamber, one Supreme Court justice of the Military Chamber, one Supreme Court justice of the State Administrative Chamber (TUN), five Supreme Court justices of the Tax Special Administrative Chamber, and three ad hoc human rights judges at the Supreme Court.
