BENGKULU - The Central Bengkulu District Attorney (Kejari) has named a member of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) in Central Bengkulu Regency, SM, as a suspect in the corruption case of village funds in Rindu Hati Village with a budget year from 2016 to 2021.

The determination of the suspect was carried out based on the results of the development of an investigation carried out by the Central Bengkulu Kejari investigator team after the issuance of an investigation warrant on July 2, 2025.

"The evidence that has been collected is strong enough to determine SM as a suspect. At that time, the person concerned served as the Head of Rindu Hati Village," said Head of the Legal Information Section (Penkum) of the Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office, Ristianti Andriani, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 6.

He said that the suspect SM is currently being held at the Class II B Detention Center (Rutan) Malabero Bengkulu City for the next 20 days in accordance with the warrant for the detention of the Head of the Central Bengkulu Kejari.

The investigation was carried out because of the withdrawal of village funds and ADD which were not submitted to village officials who were entitled to receive them, while in the accountability report, it was recorded as if the funds had been distributed to the public.

Ristianti continued, the Activity Implementation Team (TPK) also did not receive incentives as stated in the financial report, and it was found that there were development results that were not in accordance with the planning in Rindu Hati Village, Taba Penanjung District, Central Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province.

However, currently the Central Bengkulu Kejari investigating team continues to carry out the investigation process and opens up opportunities for new suspects in the corruption case of village funds in the area.
