JAKARTA - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) largest aid ship carrying a complete field hospital and 7,166 tons of vital supplies to the Gaza Strip, Palestine, has docked at Al Arish Port, Egypt.

The arrival of the ship, named Khalifa, was welcomed by a delegation of representatives of humanitarian and charitable groups, along with UAE Red Crescent Secretary General Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei and Egyptian officials, quoted from The National 5 August.

Important assistance aboard the ship will be transported from Egypt to the Gaza Strip, providing a vital way of life for Palestinians struggling to bear the burden of the deteriorating humanitarian crisis.

The Khalifa ship sailed from Khalifa Harbor in Abu Dhabi on July 21, carrying 4,372 tons of food, 1,433 tons of residential supplies, 860 tons of medical materials and 501 tons of medical equipment.

The ship is the eighth aid ship sent by the UAE as part of the "Operation Gallant Knight 3", an aid campaign launched following the outbreak of the war with Israel on October 7, 2023.

So far, the UAE has provided more than $1.5 billion in financial support to Gaza since the start of the conflict, the Foreign Ministry said.

The comprehensive assistance includes more than 80,000 tonnes of aid to help ease the suffering of Gazans who face chronic food shortages and limited access to health services.

Meanwhile, medical sources on Tuesday confirmed that Palestinian deaths in Gaza since Israeli aggression in October 2023 had reached 61,020, the majority of women and children, while injuries reached 150,671 people, quoted from WAFA.

Meanwhile, the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) said on Monday, an average of 28 children were killed every day in the Gaza Strip.

"Death from bombing. Death from malnutrition and hunger. Death from lack of assistance and vital services," UNICEF tweeted.

"In Gaza, an average of 28 children per day have been killed," he added.

UNICEF added, "Gaza children need food, water, medicine and protection. More than anything, they need a ceasefire, now."
