Not Banning The One Piece Flag, PKB Quoted Gus Dur's Message: Don't Be Higher Than The Red And White

JAKARTA - The chairman of the PKB MPR RI faction, Neng Eem Marhamah Zulfa Hiz, said that there is no prohibition for people to fly the One Piece flag. However, he reminded that the spread should not be higher than the Red and White Flag, especially on the moment of Indonesian Independence Day.

This, according to Neng Eem, is in accordance with the view of the 4th President Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) who is considered relevant to the current situation.

"Remember, Gus Dur once said that you can fly another flag, but not higher than the Red and White," Neng Eem told reporters, Tuesday, August 5.

Therefore, the legislator from the West Java electoral district asked the government and law enforcement officials not to be repressive towards people who raised the One Piece flag. He also appealed to the government to respond wisely to the phenomenon, especially ahead of the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

"The government must be wise in responding to the expressions of residents who fly cloth with a one piece," he said.

Neng Eem also invites the public to stay focused on interpreting the month of independence with positive activities. "As good citizens, let's raise the Red and White Flag," invited the member of Commission IX of the DPR RI.

Neng Eem reminded the importance of flying the Red and White Flag in every house during August as a form of love for the homeland. He also explained that the position and honor of the state flag had been regulated in Law Number 24 of 2009 concerning the Flag, Language and Emblem of the State and the National Anthem.

"Remember, in the 1945 Constitution Article 35 it is clear that the Indonesian State Flag is the Red and White, so there is no other choice," concluded Neng Eem.
