Sitting In Case Of Alleged Car Sale And Purchase Fraud Until Viral Suspect Sleeps On Floor With His Son

The alleged case of a car sale and purchase mode fraud dragged a woman named Rina Rismala Soetarya as a suspect. This woman was reported by a Central Papuan with the initials AS, who felt cheated after transferring Rp420 million for the purchase of two used Toyota Hilux units that were never received.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Roby Heri Saputra, explained that this case began when the victim was tempted to buy two used cars from the suspect. After the agreement, the victim transferred funds worth Rp420 million to Rina's account.

However, after the money was sent, the promised vehicle was never sent. The suspect only provided photos and videos of the car as evidence, but never submitted the goods in real terms.

"Even the suspect admitted that he had transferred the refund money, but after checking no funds went into the victim's account," said AKBP Roby, Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

From the results of the investigation, it was known that from the start the suspect did not intend to send a car to the victim. The funds received were directly used for personal purposes, including:

Home care: IDR 6,500,000.

Car installments: IDR 10,000,000

DP of Ertiga car: IDR 50,000,000

Mobile purchase: IDR 24,500,000

DP Hilux (in the name of another person): IDR 10,000,000

Purchase of Hilux cars (in the name of other people): IDR 235,000,000

Gold purchase: IDR 30,169,000

Home installments: IDR 15,000,000

Until now, the suspect has only returned around Rp. 80 million in stages.

After the examination, investigators decided to detain Rina. One of the considerations is that the person concerned often changes addresses, so it is feared that it will hinder the investigation process.

Meanwhile, a viral photo circulated showing the suspect and his baby on the floor of the police investigation room. This photo caught the public's attention. Central Jakarta Metro Police then gave an explanation.

According to AKBP Roby, the photo was taken when the examination process was complete or while resting. Rina at that time calmed the baby crying in the room of a Satreskrim officer.

The suspect came accompanied by her husband and brought a baby. At around 22.00 WIB, the baby was picked up and taken home by his father," he explained.

He emphasized that the police will continue to pay attention to the humanitarian aspect in handling cases.

"Procedures are still carried out according to the rules, but we also protect the rights of children and humanity," he said.
