TULUNGAGUNG - The police revealed the results of an autopsy on the body of a baby found buried beside a resident's house in Sanggrahan Lor Village, Boyolangu District, Tulungagung, East Java.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Boyolangu Sector Police (Polsek), Aiptu Wahyudi, said that the conclusion obtained from the autopsy results stated that the baby lacked oxygen or was weak.

"The autopsy process went smoothly. We also took a number of samples for DNA tests, such as blood and urine from the baby's mother and the baby's left thigh bone," Wahyudi said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 4.

Wahyudi explained that the autopsy was carried out at the Forensic Medical Installation (IKF) of Dr. Iskak Tulungagung Hospital on Saturday (2/8) involving a team from the East Java Regional Police (Polda).

The baby, who is known to weigh 2.8 kilograms and is 53 centimeters long, was based on the results of the examination showing injuries to the neck.

The wound on the neck raises two possibilities, namely that the baby experiences congestion or a forced withdrawal during the delivery process.

"We are still investigating whether the wound on the neck is due to strangulation or the process of giving birth which is not handled medically," he explained.

The police will also investigate the confession of MA (23), the mother of the baby, who previously stated that she had drowned her baby's head in a water-filled bucket.

However, the allegation is still waiting for the results of the acid destruction test from the East Java Police forensic laboratory.

After the autopsy process was completed, the baby's body was immediately buried in the local public cemetery. Meanwhile, MA is still being treated at dr. Iskak for post-born recovery.

Previously, residents of Sanggrahan Lor Village were surprised by the discovery of the body of a baby buried shallow next to the MA's house on Saturday (2/8) night.

The Supreme Court claimed to give birth without medical assistance on July 29, 2025, and buried the baby on July 30 after finding the baby lifeless.

The police continue to investigate this case to determine the exact cause of infant mortality and the possibility of a criminal element.
