Welcoming RI's Anniversary, LRT Tariffs To MRT Jakarta Only Rp80 On August 17

JAKARTA - In commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta will apply a special tariff of IDR 80 for all modes of public transportation in the capital city, from Transjakarta, MRT, to LRT.

This policy applies on August 17, 2025, for one full day, from 00.00 to 23.59 WIB.

This program includes Transjakarta services, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta on the Velodrome 'Trade' Dua route. The government hopes that this policy will not only be a form of celebration of independence, but also an encouragement for the public to start switching to environmentally friendly public transportation.

"The Rp80 tariff is a symbol of the spirit of independence as well as an invitation to celebrate the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day in a more sustainable, inclusive, and in favor of the public interest," said Syafrin Liputo, Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, on Sunday in Jakarta.

Syafrin also said that the Department of Transportation had carried out intensive coordination with all transportation operators, including Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, to KRL Commuter Line, to ensure the readiness of the fleet and optimal service on that day. Dishub personnel will also be deployed to maintain the smooth operation and comfort of passengers.

This special tariff policy was first announced by Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro in a press conference on the 2025 Indonesian Independence Month which was held at the Presidential Office on August 1, 2025. In his statement, he stated that the implementation of this symbolic tariff was a form of government appreciation to the public.

"Take any mode, either Transjakarta, MRT, LRT, or KRL on August 17, the fare is only Rp80. This is a gift of independence from the state for the people," said the jury.

The DKI Provincial Government stated that this policy is also in line with Jakarta's long-term mission to increase the use of public transportation and reduce dependence on private vehicles. It is hoped that this momentum will be able to encourage more residents to feel the benefits of integrated, comfortable, and affordable public transportation.

"Hopefully this initiative will be part of a more inclusive celebration of independence while strengthening the habit of using public transportation in Jakarta," concluded Syafrin.
