JAKARTA - The Cipayung Sector Police (Polsek) confirmed the alleged involvement of unscrupulous members of the East Jakarta Metro Police in receiving deposits from illegal drug store owners in the Cipayung area. This allegation emerged after a viral video on social media showed the confession of the perpetrator who mentioned the names of police officers as regular deposit recipients.

"It is true, the video circulating is a member of the East Jakarta Metro Police," said Cipayung Police Chief Kompol Dwi Susanto at a press conference at the Cipayung Police Headquarters, East Jakarta, Thursday (31/7).

Dwi stated that the case has now been handled by the Professional and Security Section (Propam) of the East Jakarta Metro Police. "Currently, Propam has processed it further," he added.

However, when asked about the amount of deposits received by these individuals, Dwi was reluctant to explain further. "Regarding the amount of deposits, it becomes the domain of Propam. We are here only dealing with general crimes," said Dwi.

This incident emerged after a man suspected of selling illegal drugs was arrested by residents on Jalan Raya TPU Pondok Ranggon, East Jakarta, on Saturday (26/7). The arrest was recorded and uploaded by the Instagram account @kabarcibubur24jam, and immediately attracted public attention.

In the video, the man arrested admits that every month he deposits Rp. 100,000 to a police officer named Anggoro who is said to be on duty at the East Jakarta Metro Police.

"How much is the deposit every month?" asked the video recorder.

"Rp100,000 to Anggoro. There is a chat, sir. It was not picked up but (when called)," replied the alleged perpetrator.

Even though the recorder did not seem to believe it, the perpetrator still stated that he routinely deposited the money. "That's right, sir. Anggoro, East Jakarta Metro Police," he said.

In this regard, East Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Alfian Nurrizal emphasized that his party was conducting an internal investigation. "We are conducting an investigation through internal security or Paminal, and we will immediately convey developments," said Alfian.
