PPATK Boss Calls Thousands Of Customers Had Protested About Blocking Dormant Accounts: It Turns Out To Save Judol Results

JAKARTA - Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), Ivan Yustiavandana, said that thousands of customers had complained about blockingdomant accounts. However, when traced, it was discovered that their accounts were stored in the proceeds of crime.

"Some (a few thousands of customers) submitted complaints and asked for an account opening to PPATK because they felt frozen as a result of being inactive," Ivan told VOI, Thursday, July 31.

From the results of the examination, thousands of customers protested that the blocking was not on the grounds of domestic violence or passive accounts. Instead, it accommodates money or balance resulting from a crime.

In fact, the majority of the money stored was the result of online gambling or judol.

"After we checked, it turned out that the reason for the suspension was not because of dormant, but because it was purely a criminal proceeds holding account (the judol majority)," he said.

Speaking of judol, Ivan emphasized that blocking Dormant's account was very influential in suppressing gambling activities. This is because the deposit value has decreased to minus 70 percent.

Thus, blocking Dormant accounts is considered as one way to suppress the bad habits of people playing online gambling.

"From more than IDR 5 trillion to only more than IDR 1 trillion," said Ivan.

Previously reported, PPATK revealed that it had temporarily suspended as many as 28,000 domestic accounts during 2024.

Ivan said the temporary blocking was also carried out as part of PPATK's efforts to protect the public interest, as well as maintain the integrity of the Indonesian financial system.

"The temporary suspension of domestic account transactions aims to provide protection to account owners, as well as prevent misuse by irresponsible parties," said Ivan, in Jakarta, Sunday, May 18.

According to him, passive accounts controlled by irresponsible parties can become one of the modes that are prone to misuse in illegal activities, such as online or online gambling deposits (judol), criminal acts of fraud, narcotics trafficking, and others.
