Former Mayor Of Semarang Mbak Ita Sueded 6 Years In Prison, Her Husband 8 Years In Prison

SEMARANG - Former Mayor of Semarang Hevearita G Rahayu alias Mbak Ita was sentenced to 6 years in prison in the alleged corruption case in the city government from 2022 to 2024.

The Public Prosecutor from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Wawan Yunarwanto in a trial at the Semarang Corruption Court, also demanded that the defendant pay a fine of Rp. 500 million, and if it is not paid, it will be replaced with imprisonment for 6 months.

"Demanding the defendant with an additional sentence in the form of paying compensation for state losses amounting to Rp683 million, and if not paid, it will be replaced with imprisonment for 1 year," he said in a trial chaired by Chief Judge Gatot Sarwadi as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 30.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant and her husband, Alwin Basri, were found guilty of violating the combinatorial articles charged.

Meanwhile, Alwin Basri was charged with a sentence of 8 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million which if not paid was replaced with imprisonment for 6 months.

The two defendants were found guilty of violating Article 12 letter a, Article 12 letter f, and Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

In the first indictment, he said, the former number one person in Semarang City together with Arwin Basri were deemed proven guilty of accepting bribes from the Chairman of the Semarang City Gapensi Martono and the Director of PT Deka Sari Perkasa Rachmat P. Janger, Rp. 2 billion and Rp. 1.75 billion, respectively.

The prosecutor explained that Martono's gift was received by the defendants in December 2022 and January 2023, respectively, which was related to the defendant's position to help make it easier to get a job from 2023 to 2024.

The Rp1.75 billion prize from Rachmat P. The anchor that had not been submitted was related to the project for procuring tables and elementary schools in the 2023 APBD changes.

In the second indictment, Mbak Ita and Alwin Basri were deemed proven proven to have received additional operational payments sourced from the joint contributions of Semarang City Regional Revenue Agency employees, totaling Rp3,083 billion.

As for the details of the receipt, according to the prosecutor, Mbak Ita was Rp1,883 billion and Alwin Basri was Rp1.2 billion, respectively.

Giving money to Mbak Ita each Rp. 300 million each three months and Rp. 222 million for the prize of the Mbak Ita Special Cooking Rice competition and Rp. 161 million to pay for singer Denny Cak Nan.

The money received by Alwin Basri in several stages with the amount between Rp. 200 million to Rp. 300 million.

Meanwhile, in the third indictment, Mbak Ita and Alwin Basri were deemed proven to have received gratuities of Rp. 2 billion from the Chairman of Gapensi Semarang Martono.

"This gratification is a 13 percent fee for direct appointment work in sub-districts originating from project implementers from Gapensi Semarang," he said.

Martono handed over the money through Alwin Basri in the period June and July 2023.

In their demands, the prosecutor also asked the panel of judges to impose an additional sentence in the form of revocation of the right to be elected in public office or as a political official for 2 years after serving a sentence.

Based on these demands, the judge gave the two defendants the opportunity to present their defense at the upcoming trial.
