JAKARTA - Japan has revoked all tsunami warnings. However, tsunami warnings remain in effect from Hokkaido to Okinawa based on the Meteorological Agency.
The Philippine authorities previously revoked the tsunami warning issued for several coastal areas.
"No significant sea level disturbances or destructive tsunami waves have been recorded since the earthquake," the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said in its latest update.
The institute had previously warned the public to stay away from the coast and move into the interior as tsunami waves were expected to hit the coastal area of the country.
"The impact of minor sea level disturbances has largely passed," the agency said in a statement canceling the warning.
The tsunami warning applicable to Guam and the North Mariana Islands was also lifted, according to the US National Meteorological Agency (USNWS) Guam on Wednesday evening local time.
Locations throughout Micronesia are declared safe. Guam's National Meteorological Agency told residents "strong currents may still occur."
