WEST LOMBOK - Denpasar Coastal and Marine Resources Management Agency (BPSPL) official emphasized that monitoring of marine reclamation activities in the Gili Gede area, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), is under the authority of the Directorate General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP).

"The supervision goes to PSDKP. In my opinion, it's only like the Office of Religious Affairs issuing a marriage certificate," said Dikor Jupantara, a Denpasar BPSPL official, when confirmed by telephone, Antara, Tuesday, July 29.

According to Dikor, BPSPL only issued documents on the Adjustment of Marine Spatial Utilization Activities (KKPRL) which became the basis for applicants to obtain sea space utilization permits. However, for the aspect of supervision, the responsibility lies with PSDKP.

"If you want to complain, go to the supervisor. It is in the NTB Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service (DKP), and also at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, in this case the police. For the NTB region to be under the supervision of the Benoa PSDKP, they have a satker in Mataram," said Dikor.

Gili Gede has been designated as a regional conservation area, whose management is under the Regional Public Service Agency (BLUD) of the NTB DKP.

It was the BLUD that authorized to provide initial approval before submitting the KKPRL to BPSPL.

"If this reclamation issue occurs in a regional conservation area, the BLUD should know. If you don't know, it means that the reclamation perpetrators don't ask for permission from the regional manager," he said.

Regarding the reclamation activity which is currently in the spotlight, Dikor suggested that the matter be immediately reported to the Benoa PSDKP or NTB DKP BLUD for field investigation.

Later, those who carry out surveillance will make field reports and so on. If violations are found, there are rules. They can be subject to sanctions. The police only enter when there is a criminal element," he said.

The problem of sea reclamation in Gili Gede emerged after the NTB High Prosecutor's Office received a report from a community group on Monday (28/7/2025). The report was submitted by the NTB Corruption Watch (NCW) Non-Governmental Organization, which also highlighted the massive construction of the pier in the coastal area of Sekotong Barat Village.

This community group suspects that the reclamation and dock construction activities are carried out by regional officials without official permission.

Spokesperson for the NTB Prosecutor's Office, Supardin, confirmed that the report had been entered through the One Stop Integrated Service (PTSP) of the NTB Prosecutor's Office and was still waiting for further directions.

"Now the report is still in the correspondence section. Where will the report be forwarded, whether to the intelligence field or special crime, it is waiting for instructions from Kajati NTB," said Supardin.
