Gerindra Party DPP Office Demolished By Activists

JAKARTA - A number of activists visited the Gerindra Party DPP office in Jakarta on Monday, July 28, 2025. They asked President Prabowo Subianto to act immediately on the case that dragged the name of the former Regent of Bintan, Anwar Ahmad, who is now the Governor of Riau Islands for two terms.

"We have come from Batam to Jakarta four times," said Ahmad Iskandar Tanjung, Chairman of BAPAN DPD Riau Islands, to reporters in Jakarta.

In their action, they also demanded a case of alleged corruption in post-mining collateral funds (DJPL) worth Rp. 168 billion in Bintan Regency, Riau Islands.

Iskandar said that the DGT funds emerged from the results of the KPK's supervision in 2018. Funds should have been taken by the Regent and mining company at that time. However, until now, the funds are suspected of having disappeared without accountability.

"Anwar Ahmad, who was the regent at that time, is now the governor. But the funds are not clear," said Iskandar.

He regretted that there had been no legal action against the alleged corruption. In fact, according to him, the report has been submitted since one year ago.

In his oration, Iskandar alluded to President Prabowo's promise to eradicate corruption.

"Where's the evidence? Don't just rhetoric," said Iskandar.

According to him, the President must step in to order the Prosecutor's Office and the Police to take firm action against perpetrators of corruption, including former regional officials.

"We want Prabowo to act, not be silent. If necessary, intervene the Prosecutor's Office," he said.

Meanwhile, national activist Babeh Aldo highlighted the slow investigation into the DJPL case at the Riau High Prosecutor's Office. He suspects that there is political pressure or partiality to certain elites.

"Riau Prosecutor's Office is shrinking. We ask the Attorney General's Office to take over this case," said Aldo.

He emphasized that the people of Riau Islands can take to the streets if justice is not upheld.

"The Riau Islands people are at peace, but don't try to break the law," he said.

Aldo also reminded that the law should not only be sharp to the small people, but blunt to the officials. "If the officials are wrong, they must be punished. Don't be a political tool!" he exclaimed.

The same thing was said by activist Niko Silalahi. Niko admitted that he had conducted a field investigation into Bintan. He stated that he did not find any reforestation efforts at the site of the former mine as promised by the local government.

"We've been there. Real, there's no reforestation," said Niko.

He demanded that President Prabowo use his authority as head of state to order the authorities to act.

In their action, activists brought 4 demands, namely:

1. President Prabowo immediately instructed the handling of the DJPL case of Rp. 168 billion.

2. The Attorney General's Office takes over the investigation from the Riau Prosecutor's Office.

3. The KPK accelerates the legal process without political pressure.

4. Gerindra Party is following up on people's reports seriously.
