TANGERANG - Tangerang Police, Banten Police, arrested three base motorcycle taxis (opang) suspected of being involved in blocking drivers and online taxi passengers around Tigaraksa Station, Cikasungka Village, Solear District, Tangerang Regency.

The three people who were arrested had the initials A, N, and J. They are suspected of being the perpetrators in the incident that went viral on social media.

"Yes, we have now arrested three suspected perpetrators of online taxi ambushes that went viral some time ago," said Cisoka Police Chief Iptu Anggio Pratama in Tangerang, Antara, Sunday, July 27.

Anggio explained that the arrest was part of the investigation and investigation process of an alleged criminal act involving a number of opang drivers and online taxi drivers.

"We take this step as part of the search for facts, including examining witnesses," he said.

Meanwhile, Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah said his party was still investigating the case. He asked the public to remain calm and fully hand over the legal process to the police.

"We are in the investigation stage. God willing, we will try our best so that incidents like this don't happen again. I ask all parties to refrain, not to be provoked, and leave it to us," said Andi.

The Tangerang Police, he said, had also clarified and mediated between the two parties to reduce tensions and maintain conduciveness in the region.

From the results of mediation, it is known that the trigger for the dispute stemmed from a misunderstanding related to the passenger pick-up zone.

"There is a difference of understanding between friends from the base motorcycle taxi and online taxi drivers, especially regarding operational areas. We have sat this issue through mediation," said Andi.

Previously, a short video went viral on social media. The footage shows a number of base motorcycle taxis blocking an online taxi in the Tigaraksa Station area, on Friday, July 25.

In the video, a mother and her toddler are forced to get out of the car in the rain. Opang also had time to threaten to damage vehicles with stones.

Online taxi drivers finally fielded their passengers at the scene to avoid further conflict.

The base motorcycle taxi argued that their actions were a form of 'control' against online taxis deemed to have violated the operational zone.

"That's why we immediately reviewed the location to make sure there were no more similar incidents. In the end, the community was also harmed," said Andi.
