JAKARTA - Head of DKI Jakarta Satpol PP Satriadi Gunawan said the DKI Provincial Government would form a task force that oversees social vulnerabilities such as brawls or clashes between residents.

The formation of a unit called the Safe Task Force is still being discussed in the mechanisms of the DKI Provincial Government meetings.

"The formation of a task force in Jakarta is safe. So, the Governor's direction is how the community is also involved in anticipating social vulnerabilities in the area, now that's their involvement there," Satriadi told reporters, Sunday, July 27.

Later, the brawl supervisory task force will work by involving community leaders in their respective neighborhoods.

"So the involvement is (managers) RT, RW, to community leaders," he said.

Some time ago, the DKI Provincial Government held cross-sector coordination meetings to formulate steps to deal with brawls and congestion problems.

"The brawl in Jakarta seems to be a hereditary problem with various causes. Therefore, the presence of the Jakarta Provincial Government to deal with this problem is highly anticipated by the public," said the Special Staff Coordinator of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Firdaus Ali.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will explore cooperation with psychologists and criminologists from various universities around Jakarta to formulate more comprehensive solutions.

The discourse will be carried out by a large campaign entitled #JagaJakarta can be one of the approaches. This is done by encouraging patrol intensification by Forkopimda and the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based CCTV technology.

In the forum, the Governor's Special Staff for Human Resources Development, Wisnu Permadi, proposed to form a brawl control task force as the frontline for handling conflicts.

"The control task force must be formed immediately, and field operations must still be carried out massively," said Wisnu.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Coordinator of Special Staff for the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Yustinus Prastowo, emphasized the need for firm action to stop brawls. Thus, it will provide a deterrent effect to the parties involved.

"There needs to be a strong enforcement. A broken windows' theory, where small violations are immediately prosecuted, can also be applied in this context," said Prastowo.
