The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Calls Pertamina Gas Station Digitization Corruption Occurs Due To Expensiveness

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that there is a high cost of paying in the digitization project of PT Pertamina's public refueling station (SPBU). This condition then made the state lose money.

"There is too much (paid, red) in the procurement of digitalization," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu to reporters quoted on Friday, July 25.

Asep revealed that this digitalization process occurred when Pertamina implemented a policy of using the quick response code (QR) for customers who buy subsidized fuel.

"This takes it from the calculation of how much was issued," he said.

The Director of KPK Investigation said that it was the system that became problematic. The procurement of digitization was carried out by PT Telkom, not Pertamina.

"Well, that's why most of the suspects here (suspects, ed) are from PT Telkom. This is the executor. For the first one (Pertamina, ed), it is the owner of the program," he explained.

Previously reported, the KPK is again investigating allegations of corruption at PT Pertamina (Persero). This time, the connection with the digitization project of public refueling stations (SPBU) allegedly occurred in 2019-2023.

To investigate this case, the KPK has issued an investigation warrant (sprindik) in September 2024. Three suspects have been named.

Based on the information obtained, they are DR and W from PT Telkom and E as Directors of PT Pacific Cipta Solusi. However, the official announcement has not been made by the KPK until now.

In addition, the KPK is also exploring the role of PT Telkom in the process of digitizing gas stations which has resulted in harm to the state. Investigators are sure to continue to work to strengthen the evidence they already have.
