JAKARTA - Authorities confirmed 48 people on board Russia's Antonov An-24 died in an accident. The bodies of the Antonov plane, which is nearly 50 years old, were seen on land by helicopters.
There are 42 passengers, including five children, and six crew members on board.

The aircraft's tail number shows the aircraft was made in 1976 and operated by Soviet national airline Aeroflot, before the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
The plane was on its way from the city of Blagoveshchensk to Tynda, a remote town and an important railroad intersection in the Amur region bordering China, and disappeared from radar as it prepared to land.
The wreckage was found on a hill about 15 km (10 miles) from Tynda, the Interfax news agency quoted an emergency service officer as saying.
Smoke billowed at the crash site in the Amur Region.
