Security Guard In Ciamis Begal Ojol Disabled For Online Gambling, Arrested By Police

CIAMIS - A security guard in Ciamis Regency, West Java, has the heart to extort online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) with disabilities to finance online gambling addiction (judol). The perpetrator, with the initials IS alias Imam Samudra (22), was finally arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Ciamis Police.

Ciamis Police Chief, AKBP Hidayatullah, explained that the incident occurred in June 2025. The perpetrator pretended to be an ojol passenger and asked to be escorted to the Rancah District area. Arriving at the location, IS threatened the victim with a knife, then took the motorbike and Rp 800,000 in cash belonging to the victim.

"The victim who is a person with a disability is unable to fight back and only surrenders his valuables and is taken away," Hidayatullah said during a press conference at the Ciamis Police Headquarters, Wednesday, July 23.

In front of the officers, IS admitted that he was desperate to thwart because he was involved in financial problems due to online gambling addiction. The evidence that was secured included the victim's motorbike and a knife. The perpetrator was charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with violence, with the threat of a heavier penalty for targeting vulnerable victims.

As a form of concern, the Ciamis Police Chief directly returned the victim's motorbike, provided assistance with basic necessities, leg support sticks, and made free SIMs. Ramdani, the ojol driver of the robbery victim, expressed his gratitude to the police.

"Alhamdulillah, my motorbike is back and I received help. Thank you to the Ciamis Police for quickly uncovering this case," he said.
