Village Fund Cash Corruption In Batang, Central Java, Mojotengah Village Head Becomes A Suspect

JATENG - The Batang District Attorney (Kejari) in Central Java, named the former Mojotengah Village Head (Kades) with the initials D as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of village funds for the 2024 fiscal year.

The head of the Batang District Attorney's Office, Efi Pauli Numberi, in Batang, Tuesday, said that D's alleged corruption case began in July 2024 when the Mojotengah Village Government received funds for the construction of clean water facilities and infrastructure sourced from provincial aid funds (banprov) and village funds.

"Today, Monday (22/7) we have named the Head of Mojotengah Village as a suspect in corruption in village funds. The total state losses incurred are around Rp. 235.35 million," he said.

In the case of misappropriation of village funds that has been carried out since July 2024, the suspect asked for money from the implementer of budget activities (PKA) after the village budget was disbursed by the village treasurer.

"The money is used for personal needs and partly to close village activities whose funds were used first by the suspect," he said.

He who was accompanied by the Head of the Intelligence Section Dipo Iqbal said the case was revealed after reports from the public regarding the use of village funds that were not transparent.

Based on the report, he said, his party then conducted an investigation and examined a number of parties. From the results of the investigation, it showed that there was a flow of funds that did not match its designation and evidence was found that the funds were used for personal purposes by the suspect.

"Actions like this are very detrimental to the village community. Transparency and accountability are the keys in managing public funds, especially village funds," he said.

He said the handling of this case was part of the prosecutor's commitment to law enforcement as well as a momentum to commemorate the 65th Adhyaksa Bhakti Day.

"We want to show that the prosecutor's office is present as an institution that provides legal certainty, answers the expectations of the community, and does not hesitate to take action against anyone who abuses their authority," he said.

He hopes that the disclosure of this case will serve as a warning to all village heads not to mess with village funds that should be used for community development and welfare.

"This is a form of education as well as a warning. We will carry out law enforcement professionally and based on applicable regulations," he said.
