North Sulawesi Police Name Captain KM Barcelona V Suspect

The North Sulawesi Regional Police (Sulut) named the captain of KM Barcelona V who had a fire accident in the waters of Talise, North Minahasa Regency as a suspect.

"Based on the results of the case conducted by the North Sulawesi Regional Police Ditpolairud, one suspect with the initials IB," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sulawesi Regional Police, Kombes Alamsyah P Hasibuan, in Manado, Monday, July 21.

In addition, the captain, Ditpolairud Polda North Sulawesi also examined 13 crew members (ABK) after the KM Barcelona V fire which sailed from Talaud Islands Regency to Manado City.

"For others, it is currently under development," he said.

Kombes Alamsyah explained that the determination of the suspect against the IB captain was carried out on the initial suspicion that the passengers at KM Barcelona V did not match the manifest.

Another suspicion is that the KM Barcelona cruise did not run the emergency standard operating procedure (SOP).

Previously, KM Barcelona V was on its way from Talaud Harbor on fire in the waters of Talise, North Minahasa Regency on Sunday (20/7) at around 14.00 WITA, while heading to Manado Harbor.

Based on data from the Manado Basarnas, 571 people were recorded, 568 people were declared safe. Meanwhile, 3 people were declared dead.
