Batu Police Arrest Civil Servants Observation Of Minors

The Batu Resort Police (Polres) arrested a civil servant (PNS) with the initials SY (57) for allegedly sexually harassing his minor relatives.

"The person concerned is the victim's uncle, he is a civil servant at a public school as a administration (TU). He has been named a suspect and detained on Sunday (20/7)," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Batu Police, Iptu Joko Suprianto, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 21.

Joko explained that SY had sexually harassed the victim five times, from 2022 to 2025.

The first incident occurred in 2022 in a car. At that time, the victim was still in grade III of junior high school (SMP).

Kemudian, tersangka sebanyak empat kali melakukan perbuatan seksual itu rumah korban.

"The suspect was good at taking the moment, when the victim's father and mother were not at home he met the victim in the room," he said.

The victim, he said, had complained about SY's actions to his brother, who immediately sent a report to the local police.

"Indeed, when he reported it to his brother, he (the victim) had no evidence because it was only a confession but the incident of the fourth and fifth victims recorded the actions (SY)," he said.

The recorded video taken by the victim was used as evidence to strengthen the alleged case.

"The video was then submitted to the East Java Regional Police Forensic Laboratory (Bidlabfor) Division to be used as a clue and we locked it as evidence. It was a recording of the victim," said Joko.

The police charged SY with Article 82 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection.

"The suspect is threatened with imprisonment for a minimum of five years and a maximum of 15 years," he said.
