JAKARTA - The National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) has pocketed sufficient data to reveal the exact cause of the KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya sea accident in the Bali Strait on July 2, 2025.

KNKT chairman Soerjanto Tjahjono revealed that until now the KNKT team had conducted an investigation and collected factual data since the sinking of KMP Tunu which resulted in 19 people being found dead and 16 not yet found, while 30 people survived.

"Essentially, we have obtained sufficient data, and we just need to analyze the cause (of the sinking ship)," he said, Monday, July 21.

Soerjanto Tjahjono also conveyed that the contribution of the cause of the sinking of the ship had found several things, including one of which was related tolashing or the process of binding the vehicle to the ship.

According to him, there are several things that are very necessary and immediate improvements are carried out in operations at the Ketapang Port (Banyuwangi) - Gilimanuk Port (Bali).

Tomorrow we will convey it to Commission V of the DPR RI regarding matters that need to be followed up immediately as long as we carry out the investigation," said Soerjanto as quoted by ANTARA.
