Sunny Cloudy Weather Dominates Jakarta Today, But Umbrellas Still Need To Be Carried

JAKARTA The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts weather conditions in the DKI Jakarta area on Monday, July 21, are dominated by cloudy and cloudy weather, with the potential for light rain at several points. Residents are asked to remain alert to possible inundation or local flooding, especially in the morning.

According to the weather forecast released by BMKG, the weather in the morning is expected to be thick cloudy in almost all areas of Jakarta, namely West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta. Meanwhile, the Thousand Islands has the potential to experience light rain.

Entering the afternoon, the weather is predicted to start to improve with sunny cloudy conditions throughout Jakarta. This cloudy sunny weather is expected to continue until the evening, especially in West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands. Meanwhile, the South Jakarta and East Jakarta areas are predicted to remain cloudy at night.

BMKG also estimates that the air temperature in Jakarta ranges from 24 to 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity ranging from 60 to 90 percent. Wind speeds are estimated to be in the range of 2 to 17 kilometers per hour, generally blowing from southeast to southwest.

Even though the rain that occurs is light and local in nature, BMKG still urges the public, especially in areas prone to inundation such as North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands, to be aware of the potential for local flooding in the morning.

The intensity of light rain that occurs in coastal areas can trigger an increase in the volume of water in drainage channels if it occurs in conjunction with high tides.

BMKG also reminded the public to pay attention to daily weather information through the official BMKG channel and be prepared for early warnings from the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

"We urge residents not to litter, especially into the waterways, and immediately report to the local authorities if they find potential blockages in the drainage that can cause inundation when it rains," said the official BMKG statement through its official website.

In addition, people who are active outdoors are advised to bring personal protective equipment such as umbrellas or raincoats, and be aware of slippery roads that can trigger traffic accidents.
