Two Victims Of KM Barcelona Burned In Talise Waters Died

Head of the Central Bakamla Zone, First Admiral Bakamla Teguh Prasetyo, said the number of victims who died after KM Barcelona caught fire in the waters of Talise, North Minahasa Regency as many as two people.

"Later on, there will also be accumulation (victims who were evacuated) from other places. This is data at the Serei base," said Teguh Prasetyo, quoting ANTARA, Sunday, July 20, 2025.

First Admiral Teguh added that the number of survivors was recorded at 294 people and will continue to be updated by the relevant agencies.

He said the cause of the burning of KM Barcelona V would be investigated by related parties.

First Admiral Teguh explained, KM Barcelona V departed from Melonguene Port, Talaud Islands Regency to Manado Harbor.

However, before arriving at Manado Port, the ship caught fire around the waters of Talise Island, North Minahasa Regency.

The rapid reaction from Bakamla RI together with North Sulawesi Governor Yulius Selvanus and coordinated with related parties such as the North Sulawesi Regional Police, Lantamal, Manado SAR, transportation services and other relevant agencies, so that the evacuation process could be carried out.

"Everyone is actively moving to evaluate," he said.

First Admiral Teguh also gave his appreciation to the fishermen who helped in the evacuation process for the victims of the KM Barcelona V ship that caught fire in the waters of Talise.

KM Barcelona V, which sailed from Talaud to Manado, caught fire in the waters of Talise at around 14.00 WIT, the victim was then evacuated to a residential area on Gangga II Island.
