2 Police Persecuting Detainees In Jambi Sued 15 Years In Prison

JAMBI - Public Prosecutor (JPU) Muaro Jambi District Attorney demanded 15 years in prison for two former members of the Kumpeh Ilir Police, Muaro Jambi Regency.

Both of them became defendants in the case of mistreatment of Ragil Alfarizi, causing the victim to die while in detention at the Police.

The prosecution hearing was held at the Sengeti District Court, on Friday, July 18. The reading of the demands of the two was carried out separately.

JPUDendy Jourdy and Reyn Chusnen, in their charges, stated that Faskal and Yuyunter were proven to have committed the murder as in the primary indictment of Article 338 of the Criminal Code.

"Ask the panel of judges to sentence the defendant to 15 years in prison," said the prosecutor at the Senteti District Court as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 18.

The thing that burdens the defendants is that his actions resulted in the death of the victim Ragil Alfarizi. The defendant's actions were considered disturbing to the public, and the defendant misappropriated his duties as a member of the National Police.

Meanwhile, specifically for the defendant Yuyun Sanjaya, the aggravating thing was that he was also convicted of a drug case. Meanwhile, there is no mitigating thing for the defendant.

"Requesting that the defendant remains in detention and reduced during his detention period," said the prosecutor.

After reading the charges, the two defendants were asked to submit a memorandum of defense. The next trial will be held on July 21, 2025.

The case of Ragil Alfarizi's death began on September 4, 2024, based on the results of the reconstruction held by the Jambi Regional Police.

The victim was proven to have been abused by two former police officers from the Kumpeh Ilir Police while in a detention cell.

Based on the autopsy results, the prisoner's death was caused by physical violence which resulted in severe bleeding in the back of the head.
