JAKARTA - At least 16 students were injured after the school car they were traveling in overturned after crossing the main road sewer which was not closed in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Friday, July 18.
The New Straits Times (NST) reported that the school car transported 10 elementary school students and six students from two high schools.
Chairman of the Johor state Education and Information Committee, Aznan Tamin, said on Facebook that several students had broken arms or fingers in the accident.
According to The Star, the three victims who suffered fractures were elementary school students. 13 other passengers suffered minor injuries.
A number of photos circulating on social media showed broken glass and bloodstains on the road where the car incident occurred.
NST said that the Johor Government admitted that it would investigate the cause of the sewer being exposed whether it was due to the theft or negligence of the contractor.
Meanwhile, the Johor Police said that they were still investigating the incident.
