Student Suicide, West Java Education Office Disables Principal In Garut

GARUT - The Branch Office of the Education Office (Disdik) Region XI Garut Disdik West Java Province disabled the Principal (Kepsek) of SMA Negeri in Garut to facilitate the deeper examination process regarding the problem of a student who died, due to suicide.

"Deactivation of the Kepsek, the next step is to deepen it by the provincial government," said Head of the Branch Office of the Regional Education Office XI Garut, West Java Education Office, Aang Karyana, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 18.

He said the West Java Education Office had deactivated a student who died by suicide to find out the cause.

During the deactivation, he said, the positions of principals and teachers were temporarily replaced by the executor of the task, and it was confirmed that they would not interfere with school activities.

"No (disturbed), later there will be a appointed acting (Plt)," he said.

The deactivation of positions at the school is for deepening purposes, proving whether or not there is an element of bullying that causes students to end their lives.

The incident, he said, caught special attention in the school environment by intensifying the role of assisting and monitoring the implementation of the Violence Prevention and Handling Team (TPPK).

"We have just had a meeting with the supervisors to intensively assist and monitor the implementation of the TPPK team at schools," he said.

Previously, a class X SMA Negeri student in Garut ended his life by hanging himself at his home, Monday (14/7). The incident was then crowded and became a conversation on social media, because it was suspected that the victim was a victim of bullying at school.

The Garut Police have conducted a crime scene investigation, and found no signs of violence, and further led to the alleged suicide by hanging himself.

Apart from the police, a team from the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education has also dispatched a team to examine the truth of the incident.
