BMKG Reveals 19 Provinces With Rob Flood Potential Until July 31

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) revealed that 19 provinces in Indonesia have the potential to experience tidal flooding from July 15 to July 31, 2025.

"Based on water level data monitoring and tidal predictions, coastal flooding (rob) has the potential to occur in several coastal areas of Indonesia," wrote the BMKG statement, quoted on Friday, July 18.

The phenomenon of the Perigee Phase (the closest distance to the earth-month) on July 20, 2025 and the new moon phase on July 24, 2025, is said to have the potential to increase the maximum sea level.

Rob, which has the potential to occur until July 31, will have an impact on community activities around ports and coasts, such as loading and unloading activities at ports, activities in coastal settlements, as well as salt ponds and land fisheries activities.

"The public is advised to always be vigilant and alert to anticipate the impact of the maximum tide of sea water," said BMKG.
