NasDem Encourages Vice President To Start The Process Of Moving The Capital City To IKN

JAKARTA - The NasDem Party assesses that moving the nation's capital from Jakarta to the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) needs to start with the Vice President (Vice President) with an office and occupy the building that has been built in East Kalimantan.

Deputy Chairperson of the NasDem Party, Saan Mustopa, said that the government needed to immediately issue a Presidential Decree on the transfer of the capital city to IKN. The reason, he said, is that IKN development has spent hundreds of trillions of rupiah in the state budget.

"Utilizing IKN in stages by placing the Vice President and several priority Ministries/Institutions to organize government activities in IKN by optimizing the infrastructure that has been built," said Saan at the NasDem Party DPP Office, Jakarta, Friday, July 18, which was confiscated by Antara.

In addition to the Vice President, he said a number of ministries that need to be the pioneer of the transfer to IKN are the Coordinating Ministry for Politics, Law and Security, the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, the Ministry for Public Works and Public Housing, to the National Development Planning Agency.

"With the office of the Vice President in IKN, the development of Eastern Indonesia, including Papua, can be managed more closely, accelerating equitable development," said the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

He considered that IKN East Kalimantan was a National Strategic Project (PSN) which was built due to several considerations, including to encourage economic equity which is expected to become a new center of economic growth that can have the driving force for development outside Java.

He explained that the development of IKN has cost a significant budget, both from the state budget and non-APBN. For phase I (2020-2024), according to him, the government has used a budget of IDR 89 trillion from the state budget to build basic infrastructure and office facilities for executive institutions and others.

"Meanwhile, development sourced from pure private investment and SOEs with an investment value of IDR 58.41 trillion," he said.

For phase II, according to him, the budget needed by IKN is IDR 48.8 trillion which is used to complete office development and road infrastructure.

In the midst of the current budget efficiency policy, according to him, the government must be able to adjust the availability of the budget to the implementation of various PSN, and it is hoped that it will make adjustments to the IKN infrastructure development program.

"Infrastructure that has been built in IKN needs to be activated immediately to avoid potential budget waste," he said.
