Presiden Prabowo Dan Lukashenko: Pertemuan Sahabat Lama Di Tengah Hutan Belarus

JAKARTA - On his way back to the country after a trip to France, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto stopped for a moment in the Republic of Belarus.

In the cool climate in Eastern Europe, he held a warm meeting with President Aleksandr Lukashenko, who was called his old friend.

The meeting lasted nearly three hours at Lukashenko's private residence in Ozyorny, a remote place that is beautiful outside the capital Minsk.

The location is not an ordinary place. President Prabowo has even become the second leader in the world to receive there, after Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"President Prabowo is the second president after President Putin, who came to Lukashenko's residence after the restoration," said Cabinet Secretary Lt. Col. Teddy Indra Wijaya, who accompanied the President, quoted from Antara, Thursday, July 17.

Although referred to as a friendly meeting, strategic issues still surface in the conversation between the two. One of the main topics is the potential for cooperation in the field of trade, especially related to agricultural commodities and the need for industrial raw materials.

Indonesia offers a number of leading commodities such as rubber sap, cocoa, wood, and opens up opportunities for increased exports to meet Belarus' fertilizer needs.

"Belarus needs a lot of commodities from us. And we also need from them, such as fertilizers, potassium, and others," President Prabowo told the media upon arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, last Wednesday.

In the midst of a familiar atmosphere, President Prabowo also expressed his appreciation for President Lukashenko's warm welcome.

"My great respect is received at home. I also hope that Your Majesty will visit Indonesia soon," Prabowo said. Responding to this, Lukashenko expressed his readiness.

"I look forward to returning to Indonesia," said the Belarusian President, who last set foot in the country in 2013, while smiling warmly.
