The National Police Chief Encourages PWI To Unite Through The August Congress

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo hopes that the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) will soon unite. The National Police has also given full support for the implementation of the PWI Unity Congress which is scheduled for 29-30 August 2025 in Jakarta.

"The National Police Chief always asks when PWI can reunite. This is a form of his concern for PWI," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Shandi Nugroho, Tuesday, July 15.

The statement was made when Shandi received a visit from the Steering Committee (SC) and the Organizing Committee (OC) of the PWI Unity Congress. The group consisted of Zulkifli Gani Ottoh, Totok Suryanto, Marthen SelAMEt Susanto, King of Parlindungan Pane, Tb Adhi, Musrifah, and Herwan Pebriansyah.

In a meeting facilitated by Totok Suryanto, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit through Shandi listened to the explanation of SC Chairman Zulkifli Gani Ottoh, OC Chairman Marthen SelAMEt Susanto, and OC Deputy Chairman Raja Parlindungan Pane. Karo Penmas Polri Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko also accompanied.

Towards the congress, the committee has conducted a gathering with a number of strategic parties. They met with the Minister of Law and Human Rights Supratman Andi Agtas, Kapuspen TNI Major General Kristomei Sianturi, and Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria. This step is part of an effort to ensure preparations run smoothly.

Shandi emphasized that PWI is an important partner for the Police. "All friends. Friends are here, friends are here," he said.

Because of this good relationship, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit still sent representatives to two locations of National Press Day on February 9, 2025. The August Congress is expected to be a turning point towards a united PWI.
