JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is attending the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) which will be held at the United Nations (UN) headquarters, New York, United States.
Pramono became the first governor of Jakarta to come directly to the global level sustainable development forum.
Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno said Pramono's presence in the UN forum cannot be underestimated. According to him, the opportunity to speak in such a large forum is an acknowledgment of Jakarta's strategic position in the global arena.
"Talking at the United Nations is certainly not a class of cans. Not everyone can talk at the United Nations. That is, it is very important," said Rano at SMAN 6 South Jakarta, Tuesday, July 15.
In the forum, Pramono not only represented Jakarta, but also participated in the formulation of sustainable development agendas, climate crisis settlements, as well as discussions on social inequality and urbanization at the global level.
Rano said Jakarta's participation in the UN forum was also in line with the vision of making Jakarta a global city and a new economic center, following the relocation of the capital city to the archipelago, East Kalimantan.
"This is one of the standards that Jakarta must achieve to become a global city. It must be included in its own global center," he said.

Selain menghadiri HLPF, Pramono juga dijadwalkan bertemu Wali Kota New York, Eric Adams, pada Kamis (17/7). Pertemuan ini bertujuan untuk membuka peluang kerja sama antar-kota, termasuk penjajakan konsep sister city antara Jakarta dan New York.
“Kita akan menjajaki sister city. Jadi, ya tentu keberangkatan seseorang ke luar pasti punya tujuan,” kata Rano.
