Chromebook Case: Owner Of PT GoJek Indonesia Examined By AGO

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) is examining three witnesses in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of a Chrome OS or Chromebook-based laptop at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research Technology (Kemendikbudristek). One of the witnesses has the initials MJS who is the owner of PT Gojek Indonesia.

"Examining the witness MSJ as the owner of PT Gojek Indonesia," said Head of the AGO, Harli Siregar in his statement, Tuesday, July 15.

MJS diketahui merupakan Melissa Siska Juminto. Dia diperiksa dengan kapasitas sebagai saksi.

In addition, investigators also examined Andre Sulistyo, who is the Director of PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa for the period 2020 and FHK as Senior Division Manager of PT Datascript.

However, it was not clearly conveyed about the material or the results of the examination. It is only stated that the examination was carried out to collect evidence and clues.

"The witness examination was carried out to strengthen the evidence and complete the filing in the case," said Harli.

In the alleged corruption case, investigators investigated allegations of malicious conspiracy by a number of parties suspected of directing a technical team to draw up technical studies to secure the procurement of laptops with the Chrome OS operating system.

Whereas in 2019 a trial of 1,000 Chromebook units was conducted by the Ministry of Education and Culture's Center for Information and Communication Technology (Pustekkom).

As a result, the device's use was deemed ineffective, and the technical team had recommended the Windows operating system.

However, the recommendation was replaced with a new study that again encouraged the use of Chromebooks.

In terms of budget, the laptop procurement costs around Rp9.98 trillion. In detail, Rp3.58 trillion comes from education unit funds (DSP) and around Rp6.39 trillion from special allocation funds (DAK).
