JAKARTA - The Russian and Chinese Foreign Ministers on Sunday discussed their relationship with the United States and the prospect of ending the war in Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry of the two countries said in a statement.
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Sunday, ahead of a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) foreign ministers in China on Tuesday.
"Both parties are also discussing relations with the United States and the prospect of resolving the Ukraine crisis," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"It is important to strengthen close coordination between the two countries in the international arena, including in the United Nations and its Security Councils, SCO, BRICS, G20, and APEC, stressed," he continued.
Close contacts between the two countries aim to "promoting development and revitalization of each other, and together respond to the challenges posed by the volatile world and continue to change," China's Foreign Ministry said.
In addition, both sides also exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula and the Iranian nuclear issue, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
