Visit Ustaz Abdul Somad Islamic Boarding School, National Police Chief Asks To Be Criticized

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo mentioned the importance of criticism and correction for the National Police institution, as part of the process of self-improvement. In addition, emphasizing the importance of establishing synergies between ulama and umara in order to maintain the integrity of the nation and achieve the ideals of Indonesia Gold 2045.

This was conveyed during his visit to the Nurul Azhar Islamic Boarding School in Pekanbaru, Riau, Saturday, July 12. Pad's activity entitled Sambang Petang, the National Police Chief in direct contact with the caretaker of the pesantren, Ustaz Abdul Somad (UAS), as well as national thinkers as well as founders of the Planting Institute Rocky Gerung, in a meeting full of national values, brotherhood, and moral reflection of diversity.

"We want to be criticized, corrected, because we want this institution to continue to improve and its presence is truly felt by the community," said Sigit in his statement, quoted on Sunday, July 13.

The National Police Chief also invited all elements of the nation to unite in diversity, strengthen brotherhood, and maintain noble national values.

"The diversity that is united in Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is the strength of our nation," he said.

Furthermore, the National Police Chief highlighted the importance of building friendships that crossed differences. He reminded that the strength of the Indonesian nation lies in the spirit of unity in diversity.

"Today we have found friends and new relatives. There are too many enemies, but a thousand friends are still lacking. So a meeting like this is very valuable to build a heart bond for the sake of this country," he said.

Meanwhile, Ustaz Abdul Somad welcomed the visit of the National Police Chief warmly and full of takzim. He said that his relationship with the police institution had existed for a long time.

In fact, since his return from Morocco in 2008, UAS has been asked to fill the recitation at the official residence of the Kapolda at that time. This good relationship continues with the next Kapolda, until now with Inspector General Herry Heryyawan.

With its distinctive mild style but full of meaning, UAS said that the current Riau Police Chief is not just a law enforcement officer, but a police figure who cares about nature's sustainability.

"Besi is not an iron, the iron used to divide wood. Police are not just police officers, but police officers who care about wood trees. This is Mr. Herry," said UAS, which was greeted by applause from the guests.

UAS also emphasized the importance of maintaining brotherhood despite differences. According to him, the nation's biggest challenge is the inability of some people to be brothers in differences.

"Indonesians, if they are brothers, sometimes they are not ready to be different. If they are different, they don't want to be brothers. But today, we prove that we can be different and remain brothers," he said.

He ended his speech by praying that all the affairs of the National Police Chief would be made easier by Allah SWT, and expressed his happiness because that day Pondok Nurul Azhar was filled with great national figures.

"Ahlan Wasahlan. Ahlan means you, Sahlan means it's easy. We consider you (the National Police Chief), and hopefully all your business will be made easier by Allah SWT," he said.

Meanwhile, Rocky Gerung highlighted the ethical and philosophical dimension of the meeting. He quoted the National Police Chief's statement about the importance of 'caring for friendship and respecting differences' as the foundation of the life of the nation.

"The most honest friendship is in differences," said Rocky, stressing that diversity is not an obstacle, but the wealth of the nation's identities.

He also referred to Riau as an area that is now known as a laboratory for the idea of Green Policing, the concept of environmental conservation based on legal institutions being developed by the Riau Police.

"The Kapolda not only planted corn, but also planted hope. He planted the legs of young Riau people so that they could run towards the future," said Rocky closing his remarks.
