Domino, Who Is Often Associated As Gambling, Is Now Recognized As A Sports Branch

JAKARTA - Full of domino games? Yes, this game seems quite popular in the ears of many people. In fact, it is certain that the game will be recognized as an official sport.

This assurance was expressed by the General Chairperson of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Domino Sports Association (PB PORTI), Andi Jamaro Dulung. He said next week the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) would issue a registered letter.

"God willing, next week a letter from the Ministry of Youth and Sports will be issued that PORDI is listed as a professional organization, and domino is officially one of Indonesia's recognized sports," said Andi Jamaro, quoted from the Instagram page @malaku_info, Saturday, July 12.

Thus, the game received official support from the government. Interestingly, PB PORTI also claims that it has legitimacy from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

On the same day, MUI issued an official letter stating that the domino game under the auspices of PB PORTI did not contain gambling elements and was declared halal.
