JAKARTA - A total of 664 Professional Companion Workers (TPP) from all over Indonesia officially filed a lawsuit against the Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions of the Republic of Indonesia at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN), Thursday, July 10, 2025.

This lawsuit was filed on the unilateral action of the Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions which has dismissed them from their status as TPP without legal basis and contradicts the principles of general principles of good governance (AUPB).

Candidate Angge, one of the village assistants from NTT, explained that he was unilaterally dismissed by the Ministry of Villages because he was suspected of being listed as a candidate for legislative member in the 2024 General Election.

"In fact, in January 2025 we have been re-appointed because of the contract per year and our salary has also been paid for three months. However, in April we were suddenly fired unilaterally," said Candidate Angge when met at the Administrative Court, East Jakarta.

He explained that he and hundreds of other TPPs had worked for approximately 10 years and always had a good assessment.

"This really hurts humanity and justice as a child of the nation," he continued.

Meanwhile, the plaintiff's attorney, Saleh said that there were no legal provisions prohibiting TPP from running as long as it did not conflict with the applicable work contract.

He emphasized that the work order and statement letter dated January 3, 2025, signed by the plaintiffs did not mention a ban on running for the 2024 General Election, because the document applies to the 2025 contract period.

"The plaintiffs have passed the evaluation process and are declared worthy of extending their contracts, as evidenced by the issuance of a Decree on Appointment and Work Orders for 2025," said Saleh.

He also mentioned that the work order is valid for the next year, not effective.

Saleh revealed that the legislators had taken administrative efforts, but until the time limit of 10 working days, there was no response from the Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions.

Therefore, the plaintiffs requested that the Jakarta Administrative Court declare that the actions of the Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions were unlawful acts by government officials (onrechtmatic overheidsdaad) and requested that the civil rights of the Plaintiffs as TPP be restored.

"We hope that through this lawsuit, administrative justice can be upheld and the constitutional rights of village assistants who have been dedicated in all corners of the country can be protected from arbitrary actions," he said.
