Dean Of The Faculty Of Medicine Undip Testified At The PPDS Extortion Trial

The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University (Undip) Semarang, Yan Wisnu Prajoko, was examined as a witness in the trial of the alleged extortion and bullying case at the Anesthesiology Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) at the educational institution.

During a hearing at the Semarang District Court, Wednesday, Yan Wisnu admitted that he did not know about the levy of operational costs for education for PPDS residents.

"The cost of reaching Rp. 60 million to Rp. 80 million per student should not exist," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 9.

Except, he continued, the costs for the implementation of the test are regulated by the collegium.

According to him, students must pay their own expenses for the exam carried out by Kolegium Anestesiology.

Including, he continued, the honorarium for lecturers for examiners was also not borne by students.

Apart from Yan Wisnu, the court also examined the Director of Operational Services at Dr. Kariadi Semarang, Mahabara Yang Putra.

In his testimony, Mahabara said that the determination of hospital working hours only applies to doctors and nurses.

"PPDS residents are not workers. They are not bound for working hours," he said in a trial chaired by Chief Judge Djohan Arifin.

In his statement, Mahabara admitted that he was not years old about the recruitment of many general practitioners and anesthetics nurses after PPDS Undip Semarang at RD Kariadi was frozen by the Ministry of Health.

Previously, the Head of Anesthesiology Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Undip Semarang, Taufik Eko Nugroho, was charged with illegal levies (extortion) on PPDS students from 2018 to 2023.

Apart from Taufik, the administrative staff of the Prodi Anesthesiology Sri Maryani and senior PPDS resident Undip Zara Yupita Azra were also tried in the alleged extortion or coercion case.

The case was revealed when the death of one of the PPDS Undip Semarang participants, Aulia Risma Lestari, was suspected of committing suicide in 2024.
