DENPASAR - I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport announced that until this afternoon as many as 24 departure flights and arrivals were canceled due to the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Male-Laki, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

"Based on the data we received as of Monday, at 15.30 WITA, several airlines serving flights on the Labuan Bajo, Australia, Singapore and South Korea routes were confirmed to have canceled and postponed," said General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, Monday, July 7.

Syaugi said the 24 flights that had to be canceled were international and domestic routes both departing and arriving with Virgin Australia as many as six flights on the Melbourne, Gold Coast and Sydney routes.

Furthermore, Jetstar Airways airlines with 16 flights canceled are Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Singapore routes; and finally AirAsia Indonesia airlines with Labuan Bajo route flights.

The delays consist of Qantas Airways to Sydney and Melbourne, as well as Air Busan to Busan, "said Ahmad Syaugi.

It is known that Mount Lewotobi Laki erupted again on Monday at 11.05 WITA with a column height of ash reaching 18,000 meters at the top of the mountain.

Responding to this incident, the airport manager ensured that all relevant agencies at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport jointly carried out observations and updates to the current situation.

Based on monitoring the movement of volcanic ash itself until 15.30 WITA, the spread of volcanic ash did not have an impact on Bali's airspace, so until now flight operations have run normally.

Ahmad Syaugi realized that the traffic on arrivals and departures of Bali were affected by the volcanic disaster.

Currently, services for prospective passengers affected are still being carried out by airlines.

Several airlines have submitted cancellations and rearranged departures or submitted refunds via email, so prospective passengers do not need to come to the airport.

"To facilitate passengers who are already at the airport, we provide help desks located on the international second floor and domestic terminal ticket areas to serve the process," said Ahmad Syaugi.

"We also provide mineral water and some areas at the airport that can be used to rest or put things down," he continued while ensuring services can run smoothly by continuing to actively coordinate.
