Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said the government formed a cross-ministerial team to review and analyze the latest decisions of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the separation of national and regional elections.
According to Prasetyo, there are a number of parts in the Constitutional Court's decision that need to be observed by the government.
"We, the Ministry of Home Affairs and I have been dealing with electoral issues. Then, with our friends at the Ministry of Law, we made a team to review the decision of the Constitutional Court which was just yesterday, because the decision had implications that we had to think about," said Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 2.
Prasetyo continued that the results of the study will be submitted to President Prabowo Subianto, and the team will wait for directions from the President.
Therefore, Prasetyo asked the public to be patient waiting for the government's follow-up to the Constitutional Court's decision.
"We will ask for instructions from the President when the results of the analysis from the ministry are complete. In time, we will definitely convey it," said Prasetyo.
Apart from that, the Minister of State Secretary stated that the government's attitude would certainly respect the Constitutional Court's decision.
"What is certain is that institutionally, we respect the Constitutional Court's decision," said Pras, greeting Prasetyo Hadi.
"We respect, and of course the government does not remain silent in the sense that we will analyze the results of the Constitutional Court's decision," continued Pras.
The Constitutional Court last Thursday ruled that the holding of national and regional elections (elections) was separated by a minimum interval of two years or a maximum of two years and six months.
The national election includes the election of members of the DPR, DPD, as well as the president and vice president, while regional elections consist of elections for members of the provincial DPRD, district/city DPRD, as well as regional heads and representatives.
