The Ombudsman representing the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) found allegations of double data and misuse of affirmation channels in the process of selecting New Student Revenue (SPMB) at the SMA/SMK level in Yogyakarta.

"We conveyed three names to the DIY Education, Youth and Sports Office (Disdikpora). Of the three, two were declared unfit and canceled from the affirmation route," said DIY SPMB ORI Supervision Coordinator Mohammad Bagus Sasmita when contacted in Yogyakarta, Tuesday, July 1, confiscated by Antara.

One of the three names, said Bagus, has a data problem with NIK which is recorded to be active in two different areas, namely the cities of Yogyakarta and Sleman, then confirmed to the Social Service and the Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil).

"Dukcapil said that there are indications of a double NIK with very similar data. Although the name is not 100 percent identical, the data elements show that it refers to one person," he said.

The findings, continued Bagus, are reports from the public that have been submitted to the DIY Disdikpora.

"As a result, one of the three registrants was declared still feasible, while the other two were canceled. One of them was canceled because it was classified as capable based on field data, and the other was due to data issues and allegations of dual NIK," said Bagus.

According to him, registrants who do not pass the affirmation path are still possible to register through other channels, as long as the supporting documents are valid and in accordance with the provisions.

Apart from the three names, according to him, based on the findings of the DIY Disdikpora, there were four other registrants who were also indicated to use the affirmation route not in accordance with actual economic conditions.

"Disdikpora said that today they invited parents and students to confirm. If the data is proven invalid, the affirmation line registration will be canceled," said Bagus.

Bagus ensured that ORI DIY would continue to monitor the entire ongoing SPMB process in DIY.

"Last week it was an affirmation route, then now the domicile path and so on. This is still ongoing and we will continue to monitor it," he said.

In addition to supervising the SPMB process, his party also reminded schools not to practice violating the rules, including in terms of procurement of uniforms and fees.

"We emphasize that schools and committees do not coordinate the procurement of uniforms as long as the SPMB process is still ongoing. That is not justified and prohibited in regulations," said Bagus.
