JAKARTA - Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq held a meeting with King Charles III of the UK as part of efforts to increase international cooperation in environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.

Minister of Environment and Forestry Hanif conveyed greetings and messages from President Prabowo Subianto to King Charles III and emphasized Indonesia's readiness to realize concrete cooperation, one form of strengthening the Sumatran elephant conservation center (Elephas maximus sumatrensis) at the Way Kambas National Park, Lampung.

Minister Hanif was also a keynote speaker at the Nature Action forum facilitated by the Special Representative for Nature of the United Kingdom, Ruth Davis and conveyed Indonesia's policy direction through the 2025-2045 Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (IBSAP).

"IBSAP 2025-2045 is not only a strategic conservation document, but also opens up opportunities for investment-based innovative financing schemes and the Acceleration and Benefit Sharing mechanism with the private sector," said Hanif as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 30.

He explained that the document is the main roadmap for national biodiversity management in line with the mandate of the 15th CP CBD COP-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).

The document, he explained, is not only a strategic conservation document, but also opens up opportunities for investment-based innovative financing schemes and the Acceleration and Benefit Sharing mechanism with the private sector.

In addition to attending global forums, Minister Hanif also held bilateral meetings with the British Royal Government, including the Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the Minister of Climate, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Planning (FCDO).

The topics discussed include strengthening cooperation in climate change control, reducing plastic waste, and developing carbon funding mechanisms.

Indonesia's presence in this international forum reinforces the commitment of KLH/BPLH in encouraging green diplomacy as an important pillar of sustainable development. With global collaboration getting closer, Indonesia continues to take a major role in overseeing the future of the world's environment.
