Concerning The Issues Of The Outermost Island, The Chairperson Of The MPR Warns Ministers Not To Be A Burden Of The President

JAKARTA - MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani warned ministers in the Red and White Cabinet not to become a burden for President Prabowo Subianto because he was incompetent in dealing with issues that were his authority, such as dealing with island disputes between Aceh and Sumatra, the Enggano Island crisis, and other issues related to the outermost islands.

According to Muzani, the minister concerned should be able to provide an in-depth study of the problems faced by the islands. He assessed that this issue should also be resolved by the ministry, there is no need until the president intervenes.

"I think the assistants of the President should provide a more comprehensive, more in-depth study, so that (the island problem) does not become a burden for the President," said Muzani, Wednesday, June 25.

"Even though the issue can be resolved at the Ministry level. Is it an island or other problems, so that the President is burdened with more strategic, more comprehensive, and more meaningful issues for the interests and progress of the community," continued the Secretary General of Gerindra.

It is known that President Prabowo directly resolved the dispute problem for the 4 islands returned to Aceh. Prabowo also reached the point of dealing with problems in Raja Ampat, Papua.

Most recently, President Prabowo has also signed a presidential instruction (Inpres) regarding efforts to accelerate the construction of Indonesia's outermost island in Bengkulu Province, Enggano Island.

Where currently, Enggano Island is being isolated due to the silting of the port so that public access to sell crops is cut off, and access to health services is hampered.
