JAKARTA - Seven people underwent trials over clashes during a demonstration in London to support Palestine Action, an organization proposed by the British government to be banned under anti-terrorism laws.

The ban announced on Monday will be put forward to parliament next week. Later Palestinian Action members could be convicted after their activists damaged two British military aircraft in protest over London's support for Israel.

The ban would put Palestine Action on par with Hamas, al-Qaeda or ISIS under British law.

Palestine Action, which called the ban an "uncontrolled reaction", changed its planned demonstration site to Trafalgar Square in London after police banned it from holding demonstrations outside the parliament building.

Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, June 25, Metropolitan Police said although demonstrations began peacefully, clashes broke out between officers and people in the crowd, with 13 people arrested. Of these, seven people have been charged.

One person was given a warning, while the rest were released on bail or released pending further investigation, police said. The charges include attacking emergency officers and racial abuses.

Palestine Action routinely targets British sites linked to Israeli defense company Elbit Systems and other British companies linked to Israel since the start of the conflict in Gaza in 2023.

In its latest and most famous actions, two Palestinian Action members entered the Royal Air Force base in central England on Friday last week.
