Bengkulu Governor Helmi Hasan stated that President Prabowo Subianto had issued a Presidential Instruction (Inpres) related to accelerating the development of Enggano Island, so there was no longer any reason to postpone the completion of the closure of the Baai Island Port flow.

"With the issuance of this Presidential Instruction, there is no longer any reason to postpone the settlement of various classic problems, one of which is the silting of the Baai Island Port", said Bengkulu Governor Helmi Hasan as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 24.

Presidential Instruction Prabowo on Enggano is closely related to the silting of the Baai Island Port channel, Bengkulu City. The people of Enggano are currently isolated due to disruption of transportation from Enggano to Bengkulu City as a result of the ferry ship being unable to dock at the port of Baai Island Port due to the closed door of the flow by sand.

The worst condition of access difficulties has been going on for the past three months. The people of Enggano were unable to sell their agricultural products and their businesses to Bengkulu, as well as difficulty getting basic commodities, as well as access to health, all of which were due to the silting of the port channel.

With the issuance of the Presidential Instruction on accelerating the development of Enggano Island, according to Helmi, President Prabowo has "downed" to resolve problems, including the problem of the flow that is also closely related to the outer island of Bengkulu.

"The vice president has stepped in, now the President has also intervened and signed the Presidential Instruction. There is no more reason. Now is the time to work and realize real development," said Governor Helmi Hasan.

Enggano Island is the outermost island located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, about 156 km or 90 nautical miles from Bengkulu City. One of the ways to reach the outer islands of Indonesia in Bengkulu is to take advantage of sea transportation.

Access to Enggano should have used a ferry, this is because the distance conditions and Enggano Island are also in the middle of the Indian Ocean, which of course has dangerous sea waves when accessed using small fishing boats.

If you sail to Enggano Island by ferry, it will take at least 12 hours. However, since the last three months the Port of Baai Island, Bengkulu City, has been blocked by the flow, activities in and out of the port pier have become disrupted.

This also disrupted shipping activities using a ferry to Enggano Island. Enggano's public access was hampered because the ferry ship could not enter and exit the port of Baai Island Port.
